FUT Hair Transplant
Often called ‘follicular unit transplantation’ or the ‘strip method’, FUT hair transplants have been widely used in the United States for more than 30 years. The major advantage of FUT is the rate at which the scalp retains and regrows transplanted hair. Patient outcomes are usually excellent and the cost is low in comparison to other methods. FUT is the most common type of hair restoration surgery in use today.
FUE Hair Transplant
Most commonly referred to as ‘follicular unit extraction’ or ‘follicular transfer’ (FT), FUE hair transplants are the second most common hair transplantation method in use today, after FUT. Each follicular unit (a naturally occurring group of 1-4 hairs) is harvested individually and implanted into the recipient site. The procedure takes longer and costs are slightly higher than FUT, however FUE can offer advantages for some patients.

Facial Hair Transplant
A growing area of hair restoration surgery, facial hair transplants are often requested by Graftology patients to restore lost hair in the eyebrows, or to thicken and redefine the beard. Hair is usually taken from the scalp using the FUT or FUE method, then transplanted to the desired area.
Suitability for this procedure must be assessed beforehand, and remember that transplanted scalp hair is often a different color and texture to facial hair, and the rate of growth may be different too. Given the short length at which facial hair is usually maintained, these factors do not usually present a problem.
